Supporting Livelihoods Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on fostering hope and dignity in Uganda and minority communities in the U.S. Our programs, rooted in values of equality, respect, accountability, integrity, and compassion, are designed to lift families out of poverty and empower communities for sustainable growth.
Father John Bosco draws ongoing inspiration from his grandmother, Deodanta Musoke, who, in 1982, resigned from a well-paying job in Kampala to settle in Luweero and provide maternity services to women. The guerrilla war disproportionately impacted girls and women, leading to widespread cases of rape and unwanted pregnancies. With limited access to health facilities, maternal deaths rose significantly. Since the war, Deodanta has lived in rural areas and dedicated her life to providing prenatal and postnatal services to struggling women, assisting more than 8,000 women delivering babies. As she approaches retirement, still working into her eighties, John Bosco is committed to carrying forward her mission of saving lives and supporting those in need.
Motivated by his grandmother’s legacy, John Bosco has continually supported vulnerable people in rural Uganda, including refugees from Rwanda and South Sudan, helping them access basic needs, education, and justice. He has also advocated for Ugandan migrant workers in the Middle East and served refugees and asylum seekers in Germany and the United States. Against that background, Supporting Livelihoods was established to serve and advocate for vulnerable people in Uganda, empowering them to live dignified lives.
Our mission is to support struggling families by addressing healthcare, education, special needs, and livelihood challenges. We envision a world where every individual has the resources and opportunities to live a fulfilling life.
